For 
generating the lyrics I used my preferred songwriting trick: letting the groove transport me in a trance and channel what’s coming from the great fishing pond. Grab the guitar, start the drum machine, release all focus.
Being on autopilot like this is very fulfilling, it feels so good afterwards and when in luck I will have managed to come up with something decent.
Anything goes at the beginning of this process, mostly words coming out of nowhere, then evolving and spiraling up until it actually becomes something coherent, at least to myself and hopefully to others as well.
Basically Voices is the story of an inner dialogue between a tyrannical mind and oneself. The mind is talking during the verses, and the self responding to that talk during the chorus of the song, wishing it would go away. Paranoïa , insecurities, projections, all coming from trauma.
Mental anxiety is real. What help me tremedously was reading Eckhart Tolle’s book The Power of Now. It’s all very personal but this book just worked for me (like for a lot of other people), one small step at a time, and relatively fast.
